Perhaps appropriately enough (given Skuld's love for her sister Belldandy), my family was very important in the creation of this costume. My mother's creative sewing skills came up with an interesting solution posed by the problem of Skuld's coat: two pieces!

My stepfather, Paul, taught me how to use a lathe. We used the lathe to create the staff and Skuld's "dangly" accessories out of solid maple. The staff is my pride and joy ... it is made of solid hardwood for durability, spraypainted with car enamel for the super-shiny look, the gold is worn with use, and the gold rings make a wonderful sound when the mallet is shaken.

We added a lot of personal details inspired by art and manga images to this one, including modifying the collar, wearing thick socks, and huge ribbon laces for the tennis shoes. Skuld does wear glasses on occasion in the manga, and so I chose to keep mine on. Also, we went with the red, white, and gold color scheme seen in the OAVs. I forgot to wear my earrings at Katsucon2k4, but you can't see them even when I do.

The wig was haywire at Katsu, was trimmed for Otakon, and will be replaced for future Skuld costumes.

I was part of the large Ah! Megamisama! hall and masquerade group at Katsucon2k4. Our group's Belldandy, Lisa, also won an Honorable Mention Craftsmanship for her Banpei, whom you see in the pictures.

Skuld is not for sale at this time, as there are too many memories in it for me to part with this costume.
